Playing after knee surgery

I was wondering if any of you have experience with coming back to hockey after a minor knee surgery. I'm only talking about partial meniscus removal, nothing as serious as acl or mcl or anything like that. To put it in perspective, I was able to walk (hobble) out of the hospital about 3 hours after the surgery. That was about three weeks ago now, though I have been off the ice since November due to the injury and life in general. I don't yet have a specific timeline for returning to hockey from my doctor, but I was just wondering how it went for anyone that's been through this already.

I had my whole meniscus taken out. I'm guessing you had a scope like me? I was back skating in 2 weeks. I took it easy and it didn't feel the best but I kept playing and it eventually got better. Just ice it after you play. You can't really damage it any worse, they just took bad tissue out. I would say go for it.

Lou,
I had meniscus surgery back in 07 and was out of commission for a few days. I had golf tee times roughly 2 hours after my stiches were taken out and have been fine ever since. To this day I have had no after effects and have to look for my scars to even remember what knee I had surgery on.

Hey Lou - I am an ortho professional. Did you have a scope and debridement? Also, are you doing physical therapy?
