Early morning skate in Plymouth?

I'm interested in starting an early skate in Plymouth at the Ice Center. I spoke to the staff and 7:00am is available (I believe year round), and they have showers. This might sound nuts, but I just moved over here from Michigan and we had a Weds & Fri early morning skate and everyone loved it. A great start to the day, and mucking it up early. LMK if anyone is interested. KC

Would be very much interested in that. Only a couple miles from my work. Great way to start a day. From what I remember they did have one early skate a while back- it was just hard keeping the numbers up to keep it going. I would guess if it was made an all level it might work, but being back at JMS myself after being away for 4-5 years I am not sure of the early morning skate history.

I also would be interested. Would the area be open to allowing a men's open hockey at that time? This way it really won't matter as much if we are lacking in numbers. It wouldn't be listed on the JMS website however....

Sorry for the delay... it would take a core of guys to kick it off - or a group of core recruiters. It's a lot better than the evening hockey IMO. It's really a blast early in the morning and a great reward when you walk out at 8am or so and your workout is done. Once there's a devoted group of guys it keeps going. In MI, we had a Weds and Fri early morning - so 2x per week as a default was good. I'll see if I can get this off the ground. KC

JMS had an early morning skate a couple of winters ago. 6:15 am. We had a solid core of guys that did it. It was ROUGH getting out of bed that early, but it was an awesome way to start the day. Everyone felt like crap when they arrived in the locker room, but felt great and happy to be there within 5 minutes on the ice.
I'd love to participate, but because of work, 7am might be too late of a start for me.
Any consideration of a 6:30 start?

I'm getting together with the Ply Ice Center this week and they are interested in helping to get this going. He mentioned Mon & Fri's. I like Friday, but Monday seems a bit unrealistic... I like Weds & Fri myself. In MI we had Weds & Fri and some guys came as early as 6:30am on the ice and the puck usually dropped by 6:50-7:00am and then we had the ice until at least 8:00am. We had a regular crowd and everyone had fun and joked around in the locker room. I'm glad the rink is behind the idea. Stay tuned and I'll figure out how to get a sign-up going.

I've secured Wednesday & Friday for Plymouth Ice Center at 7:00-8:00 am (with early on ice okay). I'm going to get a flyer together and a sign-up process. Stay tuned. It might take a couple of weeks to get this started. I'll need 3-4 goalies in rotation (with goalies skate free). I'll probably ask for a few weeks commitment at a time, so we have a stable show-up. I signed up for Fridays... Might sign up for Wednesdays later, but right now I play leagues on Wednesday nights so it won't work... I work a few miles away, so this is perfect. Hope others sign up!
