Your ticket to free JMS! (aka come grab some of my old goalie gear)

That JMS balance over there ---> getting a little low, but you still want to play hockey? Ever wanted to manifest that feeling of self-loathing by letting people shoot pucks at your face? Want to wake up in the morning with aches and pains in parts of your body that you never even knew existed? Want to just chill on the ice on a hot summer's day taking a sip or two out of your water bottle every now and then while all of those other chumps out there are paying ~$9/hr just tiring themselves out skating up and down the ice all night? If you've answered "yes" to any of these questions, then read on.... Have a couple sets of senior leg pads and one "regular" (that's fancy goalie speak for catch left-handed) glove & blocker set that I'm trying to find a good home for. -One pair of white/yellow Reebok 6K SR leg pads (36"). I think they are the older 12" width pads, so be forewarned that you'll never legally be able to play in the NHL. However, they may come in handy when that one Level 3 guy -you know, the one who really should be a level 5 if he'd completed his evaluation form honestly- is bearing down on you (yeah, we're on to you!) -One pair of blue/yellow Reebok 9000 SR leg pads (35" + 2) -One blue/yellow Reebok 9000 SR glove and blocker set. Glove and blocker matches the Rbk 9000 pads, so even though you might suck - you'll look good doing it. All pads rather lightly used for occasional JMS/pick-up hockey use only, and from a pet/smoke free home. They were just a little big for me, so I ended up buying a new set of 34" +1 pads recently that my knee lands in more squarely. Pads are in good repair and clean (as clean as used hockey gear can be, anyway). They do seem to be a bit defective as a lot of pucks seem to get by them, but I'm told it may not be the pads..... Free to a good home - just want them out of my basement. Hoping to pay it forward to a JMS'er like me who got the crazy notion one morning that they'd like to give goalie a shot. If your Lutheran guilt won't let you take them off of my hands for free, then can exchange them for a case of Fulton Blonde or Castle Danger and we'll call it even so you can sleep at night... Magnus - I had absolutely no interest in being a goalie but you damn near sold me here! Thankfully I tried it when I was a few years younger against some 9-11 year old squirts and got crushed, so I will still have to pass. Love the humor here. :-)

Thanks for the post. I'm pretty happy with my gear but would take a look at your blocker sometime and see how it feels. I live in Apple Valley near Hayes Arena. I could look at it in the parking lot after a game but wouldn't ask you to drag it into the locker room with all your other stuff. Also I don't know when we play together next so let me know if there is a time and place we could meet if you want to unload it sooner.

Hey Jonathan, I’ll shoot you a message.

Hi Magnus, I'm moving to Florida for a job but will come back to Minnesota every 3 weeks for a 4-day weekend. There are pickup games and a league down there so I need to get a complete duplicate set of equipment to bring with me to Florida. My leg pads are 32" + 1 so I think your leg pads would be too large for me (and I prefer flexible to stiff anyway). But if the catcher and blocker are still available, I'll buy those from you. I live right around the corner from Hayes Ice Arena in Apple Valley but I can meet you anywhere to try them on for size.

Hi John, sorry to hear you are moving! I was about to reach out to you for a group of that needs a second goalie for Friday Lunchtime hockey this winter. Another guy grabbed all of my extra gear at an AHA game a few weeks ago to try out on the ice a couple of times. I've been overseas or up at the lake most of the past 3-4 weeks so haven't heard back yet what he was going to end up wanting to keep, but so as soon as I do, I'll shoot you a direct message and find a way to let you know what I still have and/or meet up with you.

9/12 update: Both sets of pads and glove/blocker have been picked up for "evaluation". Hopefully they do OK as they aren't used to being in the correct position to stop many pucks. I'll update the post again when I know what I still have (or don't have) available.

Thanks for the update. I think I'd only be interested in the blocker and the catcher so let me know if those get rejected by the guy/gal who is evaluating them.

All equipment has been claimed and/or found a new home, thanks!
