Ice Times

I know, I know. Kids hockey is done and those who prefer early ice times have their day in late spring and summer while kids are off doing other things and the 9:45pm ice times go away (mostly). But it’s killing my ability to get on the ice. Anyhow, I know it happens every year and the players who prefer early skates put up with late skates over fall and winter. Just wanted to air an opinion. It’d be cool if days could have a variety of times, if possible. Many days appear to begin now between 8 and 9. I just had to give up a net today because the ice time was changed from 9pm to 8pm. I know it’s primarily because the rink changes the scheduling. Been with JMS for 18 years now. Appreciate all you do!

Hey Rob, I feel your pain on the early ice times. As nice as it is, kid's sports get in the way for me too at times. Our St. Thomas All level will remain at the 9:40 start for now and will actually move later in June and July, so that should be an option. The challenge is the rinks aren't filling ice times so they push us up to make sure their staff is not standing around for 1-2 hours while they wait for us. Us being flexible with them allows the favors to be returned when games don't fill and get canceled with no charge to us. Would an early morning game help you? I've had a few people ask about that option.

I have a late skate on Thursdays I have done for 17 years now at BIG. Whenever we have a week off, I try to pick up a net at St Thomas. Mornings are a no go, kids have school. Like I said, just being patient. I did sign up for the Sunday league, so that will be a little relief, paired with subbing in other leagues. Will live through it!
