SLP - 2 novice games on the week?

Hi everyone, the SLP tuesday game before was a level 4 game which was too restrictive (I like the lower/upper level classifications much better). Now it has been changed to novice, but both games on week are novice! Why not have a novice on one day and an upper level on the other day? I believe that would allow all levels to have at least one game on the SLP arena per week. Anyone else believes that would be a better idea?

I asked the admins about that and basically the long standing Tuesday L4/UL skate was struggling to get numbers. It was disappointing because Tuesday L4 was probably one of the original skates I attended (with Friday L4 skates at SLP) when I joined JMS in the Fall of 2004. The way the UL was set up for that skate was more Intermediate anyhow which kept the true UL 4's and 5's skaters away. Apparently the demand for Novice skates has increased for them to try this. Overall, the metro area isn't that large of an area to take in a skate at Breck instead, or another option that is available. I still feel as though all levels are represented well in the mix. At the end of the day, another point the admin brought up is that at its inception, JMS (Just my Speed) was launched as a vehicle for true adult beginners to feel safe and welcomed on the ice versus attending open pickup hockey with players who have played for a long time.

The problem with the long standing tuesday was that it was L4 only, not upper level, so Levels 3 and 5 couldn't fill in. I agree that they should have novice games, but having one novice (or lower level) and one upper level instead of 2 novice would probably cater to a much bigger group and get a much better turn around. Just my 2 cents though...

They had a intermediate/upper game there during the summer before the rinks went down to be redone and that still had a problem getting numbers most weeks

A lot of the time it was an L4, but it was also an UL at times. BUT, the UL designation the Tuesday SLP skate was not the same as, say the EP UL skate. I believe the allowances were set up differently... which was also frustrating when the SLP as an UL would not fill. I had several friends who are level 5 skaters willing to come out, but couldn't. All in all, the admins have the numbers based on history. There is a huge difference between 1 and 30 people saying they want a certain skate versus it actually being signed up for consistently.
