Goalie Skate Sharpening? (NW Metro Area)

Hello Everyone, Can anyone recommend a good place to have goalie skates sharpened? Nothing too complex; just a standard 3/8 or 1/2". I prefer to not have to drive too far out of the NW metro area - otherwise, I'd just go to Stauber's in Edina. I used to have a few go-to guys in the area, who are (sadly) no longer in the game. I had a place butcher my skates pretty badly. Any input is appreciated!

Northwest Sharpening - very small specialty spot - like the office at the rink but not at the rink. 8975 Zachary Ln N, Maple Grove, MN 55369 (763) 898-3439 Dave's Sports - not my first choice, but easy to get to. 13950 Grove Drive, Maple Grove, MN 55311 (763) 420-8837 Total Hockey - this is kind of a drive, but if you are a Platinum level Breakaway member (one time $60 fee) you get no cost sharpening Tues and Wed. The sharpening quality is good and consistent. Plus they have a lot of gear to handle while you wait and Ham's sandwich shop is next door. 14200 Wayzata Blvd, Minnetonka, MN 55305 (763) 208-3494

Visit Edina General Sports and have them do the Profiling. I did it on my player skates and am planning to do it on the goalie ones too. Best 40$ I've ever spent on blade modification. Then they did a 3/8" cut and it was perfect. As far as NW metro sharpening goes, Dave's is OK...but I'd be interested to hear how it goes depending on where you go.

I profiled my goalie skate blades and I have to reinforce the benefit here. It totally helps with on-skate mobility around the crease ( skating out to play a puck, recovery time, etc). The push offs for pad saves are still the same. You cant rock back as far on your heels (you have to work a little more for backwards movement) but youll adjust quick enough. I got mine done through TH in Edina and they told me that they outsource the profiling work to a local guy who has a set up in his garage. The profiling work takes too long

Edina general sports does a special profiling that is only available via them or the Minnesota wild (they are the only two with the machine). What makes edina general sports' profiling superior is that it's entirely done by computer so it's free of human error. I had previously done a profiling elsewhere and I can absolutely attest that the one done by edina general sports is far superior.

NW metro. Zach, try Geared up Sports in Elk River. I have had great luck with them. He does a 5/8 cut or 5/8 flat bottom V. that is how his stones are set up.

I ended up going to Hat Trick Hockey in Anoka - located within the Anoka ice rink. I've been there before and took a chance that the place would do a good job again. They did. They used a standard 5/8 cut - which is a little dull for my liking but it's better than no edge. They cut it very well - and for only $ 5 bucks.
