New to JMS

Hello, I am new to the Twin Cities area and JMS hockey. I was informed about this website this past Friday while playing some drop in hockey at Eagan. I am a goalie, just moved here from Cleveland, OH where I played 4 years of varsity hockey, some club hockey at Bowling Green State University, and have played men's leagues for many years. I am still undecided about if I want to join a team this winter, mainly due to the fact that I am getting married in October, and our honeymoon is in January. I don't want to miss a lot of games for a team as I am one to show up to every game. I just want to play to have a good skate, and play some hockey. Right now I am looking for drop ins, or subbing for a team, or just to play here and there. Do goalies have to pay for the fees as players do with JMS? I am just curious to see what I have out there for me. I have a level 4,5 goalie. Thanks

Hello Marc, sounds like JMS will be perfect for you. Goalies are free, you can only sign up for sessions that align with your skill level or are open to all skill levels. Here is a link to the help page https://jmshockey.com/help/topic/23062 Feel free to post any questions you might have and I am sure someone from the community will be more than willing to fill you in on any details. Welcome!

Hey Josh, yes I have done the assessment test thing. It claims I am a level 4 and 5. Which is what I am lol. I have signed up for a game already. Thank you for your quick response and information.

Awesome! Have fun and let a few in here and there so the skaters don't get discouraged.

I'm also new to Jms. So if i sign up where can I find the captain so he can run things over with me. Anybody willing to help out?

If it is your first game, the captain will most likely seek you out and make sure you know the details. You can ask the other skaters in the room who the captain is and they should be able to point him out for you. Additionally, right before we start playing the captain will give a quick reminder on JMS etiquette to all the skaters. I wouldn't be worried and I wouldn't hesitate to ask the people around you on the bench if you have any questions!
