shoulder pads

Before I start goin to JMS pickup games and start my first league games I am wondering if we are suppose to wear shoulder pads as well? My understanding is that it is non check, so I am just wondering if everyone still wears them or not. Thought Id ask now just in case I need to pick em up before I skate my first games. Most lower level players wear them. It is not required but highly recommended.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm also new to the league and was contemplating whether or not I should pick up some shoulders as I plan on playing in the summer AV league. It's not so much the accidental contact I'm worried about, more so getting a deflected puck up high. Might pick up a pair of classic 5030's just in case....

I don't wear them. It only is an issue when I step in front of an attempted shot from the top of the slot.
