Pro Stock equipment on Ebay

I had a few guys at the Elite session last Wednesday ask that post this information for everybody since it could be useful. I generally get my sticks on ebay, and its no secret you can get Pro Stock (essentially gear directly from the pro's) stuff in lots of places, but there seems to be quite a thriving market for it on ebay. It's not just sticks either. You can find helmets, skates, breezers, gloves and an assortment of other goodies. Most of the prices are really competitive with retail prices and the equipment is in a different league. I mean, this is the stuff the pros are using right out of their training rooms! I knew an NHL trainer and asked him if the stuff is legit and he said it was. It's also a much higher quality than the retail sticks you can buy at say Hockey Giant or Total Hockey. That's because they use a lot less fiberglass so the sticks tend to be much more durable and give a more consistent feel over the long haul. Plus, you can sometimes find a deal where people are selling two or three of the same stick. It's pretty easy, just go to ebay and type in "Pro Stock Hockey Stick" or something similar. There's a guy in Texas who sells a TON of sticks and he usually has quite a bit of quantity of an given stick. You'll click on his auctions (most have a "buy it now" status) and find he has 7-10 of the same stick , model, and curve. Here's his store: http://stores.ebay.com/stickfixtexassouth/ and of course, his listings for the sticks he currently has available: http://stores.ebay.com/Stick-Fix-Texas-South/Hockey-Sticks-/_i.html?_fsub=11829303&_sid=20206674&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 Full disclosure: I've bought a few sticks from him and the stuff is high quality. I have no other stake in his company other than I've gotten a few good deals on sticks from his store. Definitely go through the auctions and see what's out there. You'd be surprised at the prices you can find for this stuff. I'm always amazed at how Pro's like to modify their equipment. Like this auction http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pro-Stock-CCM-RBZ-Taylor-Made-Left-Handed-Carcillo-Kings-/181255538300?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a33ac067c for the LA Kings Dan Carcillio's CCM RBZ stick which was blackened at the bottom of the stick instead of the standard white. The kicker was his nickname on the stick "CARBOMB" which I thought was pretty cool. Cost? $130.00 plus Free Shipping. The same stick at retail price is $199.99 plus tax. Anyways, just wanted to give you guys a heads up. I know I'm always looking for a good deal on hockey stuff so I figured I can't be the only one - right?

I like the description of Carcillo's stick as "briefly used". More like rarely used! I think the one thing to remember about Pro Level gear too (unless it is barely used) is that the equipment takes a harder beating than your typical equipment. These guys play so often, the equipment takes a beating. Still good deals though.

I have bought a ton of Wild pro stock stuff over the years and yeah it can be hit n miss, but I have had GREAT success with pro stock lasting longer than the senior stuff I used to buy.

Oh, the reason they paint the bottoms black is to eliminate the glare from all the lights on the stick. Thats what the equip mgr at Wild told me....
