JMS Hockey

I sure enjoyed playing in the JMS league in the fall. It was great to meet new friends and have the added thrill of competition that comes when keeping score. Thanks so much to those who put it together! Now as for the upcoming JMS winter league... I can't play a regular JMS Sunday night game (except Minnehaha at 10pm) because of conflicts with AHA games. I know the Showcase league is Sunday nights as well. So out of my little poll of ten or so people who would like to play, no one will be able to. Has the day of the week already been decided? Does anyone else like it on Friday still?

Hey Michael, We're definitely moving forward with the Sunday night league - the ice is booked and players are signing up. Signups opened today and they've already been strong so we're not expecting any problems filling the teams. As we continue to expand the league offerings in the future we're definitely hoping to expand to other nights, rinks, and skill levels. -Andy

Andy, Yes please keep in mind in mind looking at other nights for the next round of league play after this upcoming session. i know I'm with Mike that Sunday nights are not the best option for a lot of people. Fletch

Definitely. We're not going to restrict ourselves to only Sunday nights in the future, that's just how the rink availability and planning played out. We're hoping to expand to a lot more than just one night.

Friday night worked great for me but Sundays do not. I hope the spring league has Friday or Saturday nights. I had a lot of fun and will play again.

Do you think this program will continue into the summer? It seems like it may be a nice option for players who play aha in the winter. Anyway I have not yet gotten to play in it but it seems to be a cool offering

I agree that Sundays are not manageable due to my commitment to many other leagues . Friday night was ideal....Saturdays would also work noting that there is no JMS offerings and very few other opportunities on that day. Thanks in advance for your consideration!

I love the JMS format and would love to play league on Sun nites...but could only make about half the games. Is there a sub list/format that doesn't require a full ten game commitment?

Hey Brian, There will be opportunities to sub and pay per-game (however, you'll end up paying less per game if you commit to the entire season) We're also considering experimenting with a hybrid league/pickup format where the teams may only be half full and backfilled by anybody who wants to play a league game that week. Kind of like a league "lite" version. We're not trying that just yet though, but we might next season. -Andy

I think you should get a lower level league going before the crazy hybrid league. :)

Hello, I am totally new to JMS and Hockey.... I would love for a lower level league and for it to be on Fridays :) I have no problem taking a few pucks to the mask for a fun & friendly Friday game. -Christine

Lower level league would be so great. ASAP! I'm a level 3 but my son is a level 1-2, I want to play in a league with him. Desperately.
